In an effort to accommodate the increased flow of passengers, a new open restaurant and concession area was designed to draw travelers into that space along with a new TSA security screening area that was expanded to integrate new body scanning devices and additional lanes. A detailed phasing plan was developed and the project was designed to keep the restaurants and security areas in operation for the duration of the project.
SoL Harris/Day worked with multiple regulatory agencies including the TSA, FAA, restaurant consultants, Summit County Health Department and the City of Green Fire Department to incorporate the latest standards and technology in these new designs.
The coordination with the restaurant consultants allowed for the re-use of much of the existing equipment which allowed for the cost savings to be used to enhance the entry lobby area for CAK travelers.
