The Chapel in Akron
After conducting a reorganization and rebranding study of the entire facility, changes were recommended and then broken up into phases to allow the daily operation to continue. Phase 1 involved the reorganization and updating of classroom spaces to improve wayfinding among the existing building.
In order to improve interior circulation, the corridors were expanded and the program entrances were highlighted with bright colors and wall graphics to increasing their visibility, making them easier to find. New materials were introduced in all the public circulation spaces to connect all areas of the building, creating a more cohesive interior space.
The new adult classrooms were moved closer to the sanctuary to accommodate the elderly, providing a shorter walk to programs.
