Congress Lake Country Club
The overall project for the Congress Lake Country Club was 4,500 sf of new construction and 18,000 sf of renovated areas.
The new design for a Grand Hallway complete with artwork and fluted columns was carved out from the old locker room area along with new kitchen and dining areas that faced the lake. The Grand Hallway serves as both circulation and art gallery. The new curved granite bar at the rotunda ceiling Tavern is now the hub of activity in the club. Warm stained woodwork and a view of the lake greet those desiring to relax and mingle with friends. Casual dining in the Grille Room now offers a wonderful view with its light filled wall of windows. The white woodwork and stained beadboard ceilings recall a coastal cottage. The new Donald Ross dining area is reserved for quieter, more elegant dining, with floor to ceiling stained woodwork and quiet upholstered panel walls.
The space next to the clubhouse, around the pool was completely changed to open it up so that it framed the lake while screening the pool from the parking area. The entry colonnade ties the clubhouse and the pool building together to create a sheltered pool with a terrific view. The pool house contains restrooms, an office, storage and a kitchen that can now serve food hot and conveniently through the pool house windows.
All construction work was completed in 8 months, from the Fall through the Spring so that the summer season was not lost to the club or its members. Since the renovation has been completed, Congress Lake has experienced an increase in its dining usage by about 20%.
“I have traveled all over the country and have been in many different clubs in the United States. Congress Lake has been transformed into one of the finest clubs in all of Ohio, if not the entire Untied States.”
