The new Stark County, Ohio Wildlife Conservation Center held their grand opening this past Saturday. This new 9,400 sf facility is dedicated to conservation and rehabilitation of native wildlife and their habitat through research, education and animal care.
The Center is built to work with the surrounding natural environment, and it connects the Exploration Gateway to the Sippo Lake Marina with a new limestone trail for biking and hiking. The new spaces will allow the center to better care for the approximately 2,000 animals they help each year. About 60 percent of them are able to be released and the ones that cannot be released will remain at the facility as part of the programs and events that will be hosted there.
This facility will have multiple purposes including office space for volunteers and staff, animal treatment, fieldwork and research for local universities, as well as many public events/programs. Check out the Stark Parks website, starkparks.com, to find out about all their activities planned for this year.
SōL Harris/Day was honored to work with Stark Parks on this important project.
